The Center for Municipal Studies & Services was established at the Institute in January, 1975 through a contract with the National League of Cities and with the financial support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of Hoboken. It was one of ten observatories established at colleges and universities across the country to address socio-economic issues plaguing adjacent urban communities.
