Biographical / Historical
Established in 1967, the Cryogenics Center was the first of its kind in any academic institution in the United States. It conducted research in the physical characteristics of materials under temperatures in the realm of absolute zero. Originally housed in the Physics Department in Burchard, it expanded and took over the old library building in the fall of 1969.
